Question 1

How does Leaderboard Rx find cheaper prescription prices?

Accepted Answer

We compare prices across major retail chains, local independent pharmacies, and top discount programs all in one place. We also factor in locations convenient to your daily routine (places you actually go) so you can find the lowest price without driving out of your way.

Question 2

How does transferring a prescription work?

Accepted Answer

When you find a better price, you don't have to call your doctor or wait on hold with the pharmacy. We guide you step-by-step through submitting a transfer request directly to the new pharmacy—usually in about 60 seconds.

Question 3

How is Leaderboard Rx different from GoodRx?

Accepted Answer

Most coupon apps only show discount prices and leave you to figure out how to switch pharmacies. Leaderboard Rx helps you easily transfer your prescription to the cheaper store, shows options convenient to your daily routine, and never sells or tracks your personal health data.

Question 4

Is Leaderboard Rx free to use?

Accepted Answer

Yes, 100% free. There are no subscriptions, membership fees, or surprise charges to search prices or transfer your prescriptions.

Question 5

Is my personal health information safe?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We protect your data with TLS encryption in transit, AES-256 at rest, and strict privacy safeguards. We never sell your personal health data or share your prescriptions with advertisers.

Question 6

Where can I download the Leaderboard Rx app?

Accepted Answer

You can download our free Android app on Google Play to scan your prescription bottle with your phone camera, get refill reminders, and see alerts when you're near a pharmacy with cheaper prices.

Question 7

How are controlled substances handled for prescription transfers?

Accepted Answer

Under federal (DEA) and state pharmacy laws, Schedule II controlled substances (such as stimulants or opioid pain medications) cannot be transferred between pharmacies and require your doctor to send a new prescription directly to your chosen pharmacy. Schedule III–V medications may have strict one-time transfer limits depending on state law. Leaderboard Rx clearly notes non-transferable medications and helps you identify the lowest-cost pharmacy so you can ask your prescriber to route your script there directly.

Question 8

What is the difference between insurance copays and cash/discount pricing?

Accepted Answer

Prescription discount cards and cash pricing operate independently from health insurance. For generic medications or high-deductible plans, the cash discount price found on Leaderboard Rx is frequently lower than an insurance copay. However, discount cards cannot be combined with insurance (including Medicare or Medicaid) on the same purchase, and cash payments generally do not count toward your health insurance deductible.

Question 9

Can I transfer a prescription if I have zero refills remaining?

Accepted Answer

Yes. You can still initiate a transfer through Leaderboard Rx even if your current prescription has zero refills remaining or has expired. When your new pharmacy receives the transfer request, their pharmacy staff will contact your prescribing doctor directly to request a refill authorization and renewal—saving you from having to call your doctor's office first.

Question 10

What happens if a pharmacy is unavailable or out of stock?

Accepted Answer

If a pharmacy has medication backorders or is temporarily unavailable, you can instantly pick the next top-ranked pharmacy on your Leaderboard Rx results list. Because our rankings evaluate stores along your daily routine and places convenient for you, the next lowest-price option is usually just a few minutes away. You can also compare mail-order pharmacies for convenient home delivery.
